Caruso *, Julio Landero-Figueroa from the department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati, Agilent Technologies Metallomics Center of the Americas, the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences and University of Cincinnati discuss the many harmful metals found in non-tobacco smoking alternatives (pp.205). The primary question the authors aimed to discuss throughout the article was whether or not steam stone fluids, an alternative tobacco product, were to be harmful to the human body (pp. 205). However there is an insignificant amount of research completed for the steam stone, leaving users clueless as to what they are putting into their bodies (pp. 205). The hookah has been used for centuries as a way of smoking tobacco as well as other substances. It was believed that because the smoke passed through water, it filtered all the ha rmful chemicals making it the safest approach to smoking tobacco (pp. 205).
